Each birthday has a specific card attached to it. May 12's is the Hanged Man. Pretty accurate fit I think!

I like Hanged Man for Vinny for a lot of reasons, the quote above and the correlation with Another Light being two big ones. On a more vague note, this card is one of the most subtle in the major arcana and frequently one of the most difficult to interpret. The Hanged Man is objectively trapped, being hanged by his leg as a form of torture, a situation far worse than what most people will ever see in their lifetime. And yet he chooses to be there. In most renditions, he smiles serenely and doesn't struggle. His physical form is bound, but is mental/spiritual form is free to do as it pleases. Through sheer force of willpower, by choosing to literally see the situation in a different light, he succeeds in improving his circumstances. Call me presumptuous, but I see a lot of these ideas in Vinny.
