I have Sai too! Wow! I need to actually learn to use Sai right. Did you look up tutorials or just messed around with it? I've had it for a while but am a little afraid to learn it more, guess I should, though if I want to make great stuff like this!
Also how did you do some of those textures? I look close and see greenish dots and blotches that really add to it, did you just make some of it or add certain textures somehow?
I don't use tutorials in the traditional sense, but rather i just analyze and learn from other people's works to see what i like and what looks good and develop my own style from it. In order to be able to produce good original content you need to be able to consume lots of content beforehand, be it good or bad, so you know what not to reproduce and what makes good things good. I made the green blotches by making a "Second background" by combining a bunch of reds and oranges and greens to make a metal-like bumpy texture, added some noise, then set the layer to overlay to dot the picture with the effect.
