Due to current global events - I have the free time to learn some Linux bash scripting! With this knowledge - I was able to generate .ppm files using some math formulas. Through the combination of a stencil type image that I created in GIMP and exported as a .ppm file, as well as a script file that I wrote which grabs said .ppm file and generates an animated background within certain parameters - I created this animated gif of the Vargshroom shimmering and hypnotizing the viewer.
TL;DR - I waved my hands like a wizard and shat out a gif.
